 90                        traffic patterns  of soot and grit and grime major arteries congested arterial roads blocked diseased society overcome by traffic pumping emission, pumping noise wheels spinning, pavement gleaming slick with acid rain, with leaking oil  traffic patterns merge, collide swerve around the issues: green house gases, energy depleted, junk heaps rusting alongside dusty roads alongside road kill discarded, ignored, disposable commodities  down a few liters, down a quart or two down the block to purchase some more short hops to the supermarket or corner store conditioned to jump in a car to drive two blocks and back again  take small steps, left then right then zig then zag on foot
  
 Empowerment  Rick Millikan     'Hello! Uncle here! I've got some business matters to be sorted out. Also I must take my car in for a tune up. It's running rough. 'Our eyes are wide open, now let's reawaken our human potential!' declared Pablo.    'You'll perfect our lives? You philosopher kings need my practical input!' teased Anita.    'Certainly! Remember Anita when our family risked our lives to reform the 'Republica'! Here, we sit relaxed and well fed as we unravel life's predicaments! Who knows if our deliberations will reverberate and enrich this impov- erished existence!' Papa smiled. 'To think that Voltaire's 'Candide' inspired this garden!' Behold my green thumbs and look upon Eden. All seeds were planted lovingly, grow- ing up with sunny attitudes, and now ready to overcome their stormy challenges.
